First things first: I reverted the blog back to its previous focus, or rather lack of focus. I always liked the name 404 – Not found. When someone ran across it in search listings, as often as not, they would continue on to somewhere else. After all, who intentionally goes to a page that is not found? I found that the previous focus on only Kentucky basketball and golf, left me too often trying to force myself to write something that fit into the focus of the blog. It was way too much like work. Hopefully, the muse will strike me better without that level of focus.
Second things second: Since I am back to a rather unfocused approach, this entry will be nothing more than a few random things that I feel like typing today.
WordPress ate my first attempt at this post, I hope this one makes some sense, I’m not word-smithing it as good as the first go around.
Dan Issel no longer holds the single game scoring record at the winningest basketball program in the NCAA. That honor now belongs to Jodie Meeks. I have watched that 54 point performance versus Tennessee a couple of times now and it just doesn’t look like he poured in 54 points. It was all so effortless looking. Of course on the second viewing of the game, I paid attention to the “violent cuts” that the game announcers had mentioned. Pretty accurate wording on their part. Jodie worked so hard away from the ball that by the time he touched it, he was slowing down and in a smooth rhythm. It didn’t look like he scored more than about 20 points or so, until you watched it carefully and started counting baskets. A masterful performance, and he has been putting on a bunch of those this year. Way to go Jodie and way to go Cats!
We have a new President of the United States. Since I work inside the beltway, I really like inauguration day, its an extra holiday. I hope for the best for our new president, I didn’t vote for him, but he has my full support and I hope that he can bring us from these current hard times to even better times than we have ever had before.
Its been COLD lately and I want to play some golf, bring on the warmth.
I sat and watched Death Race 2000 last night. Back in the mid 70’s, it was a bit shocking, a little cheesy, and a whole lot of funny. Now it is very campy, very cheesy and still a whole lot of funny.
