Kentucky’s Final Season

Its coming up on us tomorrow, the final leg of a wild season. I mentioned in my last post that this team had landed in my top 5 favorite UK teams list. That may be a bit premature of me.

If they play their hearts out in the tourney, they will most assuredly be on that list. If chance wills it and they make a run through the field, they definitely will be on that list. If after all they have been through to just get here, they come out and pull a Gardner-Webb or San Diego on us, I’ll find my winter and early spring memories seriously clouded.

I filled out two sets of brackets this year. In one of them, my fan bracket, I pushed UK all the way to the final four. It can be done and if this team plays like they did during the SEC conference schedule, they could easily make it that far, although I think the regionals is about as far as I can hopefully push them, but hey its my “fan bracket”. My “realistic” poll, has them going down in the 2nd round to Stanford. Even if that’s their fate this year, if they leave it all on the floor and play to their best ability, I’ll remember this team very, very fondly.

I would like to see my “fan bracket” be the one that happens. I think this team can pull it off. No matter what happens, as long as these guys come out and play like they did during the 2nd season (SEC), I’ll be happy with the results of this 3rd season. Its been a wild ride Billy Gillispie and team. I’m already looking forwad to next year. First, however, there’s some business to take care of. Joe, Ramel – its your time – go after it with all you have.

Lets head out to Glory Road, once again. Go Cats!
